Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corp (M) Bhd (Al Rajhi) has appointed Arsalaan Ahmed as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective immediately.
It said Bank Negara Malaysia has approved Arsalaan’s appointment, adding that he has taken over from Steve Chen who had completed his contract in November 2020.
“Arsalaan, who is a distinguished and well-known thought leader in the Islamic banking and finance industry, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in retail, corporate and investment banking and markets from over 15 years of banking career,” Al Rajhi said in a statement today.
It noted that the Arsalaan was awarded the global industry award for Islamic Banker of the Year in 2018 by The Asset, adding that he was formerly the CEO of HSBC Amanah Bhd.
“Prior to that, he held senior positions in banks across Europe, the Middle East and Asia,” it said.
With the appointment, the bank hopes to provide renewed leadership to successfully implement its strategy and tap on market opportunities to grow its Islamic banking business in Malaysia. — BERNAMA
