MISC Bhd chief operating officer Rajalingam Subramaniam will assume the role of group president and chief executive officer (CEO) effective October 1, 2022.
He will succeed Datuk Yee Yang Chien, who had opted for early retirement effective September 30 after more than 20 years of his career in the maritime industry.
In a Bursa filing today, MISC stated that Yee had steered the company’s transformation into a formidable and resilient international maritime conglomerate during his tenure.
“Yee played a key role in MISC’s acquisition of AET, a leading global petroleum and product shipping solutions provider, the formation of Eaglestar, an integrated marine services provider and led MISC’s maiden foray in securing its first deepwater floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) project in Brazil.
He had received numerous international recognitions during his tenure, most notably as one of the top 10 prominent leaders in the Lloyd’s Power List 2018 for oil and gas shipping.
Meanwhile, Rajalingam began his career at sea and came ashore in 1996. He has since held various positions in the company, including vice president of fleet management services, in 2008, before being appointed as the president and CEO of AET in 2016.
He also serves the global maritime industry in various capacities, including a board member of Gard P&I and an executive committee member of the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO).
Rajalingam is an honorary commander in the Royal Malaysian Navy, a position he has held since 2009. – NST ONLINE
